ACCESS
The North Bay Railway is an attraction ideal for all the family and is dog, wheelchair and pushchair friendly, value for money and easily accessible from all counties.
Situated in the North Bay in Northstead Manor Gardens, opposite Peasholm Park in the seaside town of Scarborough; recently hailed as the most enterprising town in Europe.
Peasholm Park Station is accessed by a small tarmac driveway off Burniston Road, opposite Burniston Road Car Park and adjacent to Peasholm Park.
For Scalby Mills Station, cars may park in the Sea Life Centre Car Park and passengers should either take the steps or ramp up to the station.
A short train journey from Peasholm Park Station takes you to Scalby Mills. The Sea Life Centre, a public house, crazy golf course and the promenade are easily accessible from Scalby Mills Station.
The journey from Scalby Mills Station takes you to Peasholm with access to Peasholm Park and the North Bay Beach.
During both journeys you can see amazing views of Scarborough Castle and the headland.
North Bay Railway has a modern, easily accessible Café Bistro, with ample space between tables for wheelchairs and pushchairs, disabled access via a ramp, toilets and baby changing facilities. The Café Bistro caters for food allergies and intolerances and also has a range of gluten and dairy free ice cream available in our Café and Ice Cream Kiosk.
All our attractions are on the ground floor and are in a safe, car free environment, ideal for children and dogs, together with us having a covered Station Platform under which to shelter if it rains or for dog walkers to enjoy a drink or a meal when passing.
Our attractions have wheelchair/pushchair access direct from the car parks at both ends. At Peasholm Station, entrance is through our ticket office/gift shop and direct onto the Station Platform, where the Train Guards are happy to assist passengers with mobility difficulties or to direct wheelchairs or pushchairs to the end of the carriages, where the wheelchair/pram can remain occupied on the journey.
Visitors may be dropped off/picked up close to the Station Building where a member of staff will arrange train tickets and assist passengers to the platform area to await the train.
The Station Building has double door access both when entering and when moving onto the station platform.
The train travels 7/8ths of a mile each way, either to Scalby Mills and the North Bay Sea Front near the Sea Life Centre or from Scalby Mills and the Sea Life Centre to Peasholm Park. (Ramp access at both stations).
The journey takes approximately 8 minutes one way and for a round trip, 20 minutes.
Passengers may leave the train at either end to visit other attractions, go for a walk, visit the Sea Life Centre, Beach or Crazy Golf and then return on a later train.
(For train times see the timetable in our brochure, Station Notice Boards or on our website).
